STEP 1: Top & Bottom

Measure the circumference around the middle of your knee cap and 2 inches up from the bottom of your residual limb.  The bottom circumference is the most difficult to measure because it may feel as if the tape measure is sliding off your limb. Continue to STEP 2: Length

How to measure for knit-rite prosthetic soft sock.

STEP 2: Length

Length is a matter of preference. However, the typical rule is 2-3 inches past the middle of your knee cap. Continue to STEP 3: Find your size

STEP 3: Find your size

Take both your top, bottom, and length measurements and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side. Most below-knee amputees fit a size regular.

SIZE TOP (in) BOTTOM (in) SOCK LENGTH (in)
Narrow 8 - 11 6 - 7 12
Medium 14 - 16 8 - 10 15
Wide Short 17 - 20 11 - 14 12
Wide 17 - 20 11 - 14 18

STEP 1: Top & Bottom

Measure the circumference along the top of your groin and 2 inches up from the bottom of your residual limb. Continue to STEP 2: Length

How to measure ak and bk amputees for prosthetic socks.

STEP 2: Length

Length is a matter of preference. Some people prefer their prosthetic socks to reflect over the top of the socket, while others prefer the sock to stay within their socket. Continue to STEP 3: Find your size

STEP 3: Find your size

Take both your top, bottom, and length measurements and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side. Most above-knee amputees fit a size "Wide."

SIZE TOP (in) BOTTOM (in) SOCK LENGTH (in)
Narrow 8 - 11 6 - 7 12
Medium 14 - 16 8 - 10 15
Wide Short 17 - 20 11 - 14 12
Wide 17 - 20 11 - 14 18

STEP 1: Top & Bottom

Below-elbow amputees measure the circumference around your elbow and 1 1/2 inches up from end of your residual limb. Above-elbow amputees measure the circumference at the level of your underarm and 1.5 inches up from the bottom of your residual limb. Continue to STEP 2: Length

Measuring arm amputees for stump socks by knit-rite.

STEP 2: Length

Length is a matter of preference. Continue to STEP 3: Find your size

STEP 3: Find your size

Take both your top, bottom, and length measurements and use the chart to determine your size. If you're in-between sizes, we suggest remeasuring again to be on safe side. Most arm amputees fit a size "Narrow."

SIZE TOP (in) BOTTOM (in) SOCK LENGTH (in)
Narrow 8 - 11 6 - 7 12
Medium 14 - 16 8 - 10 15
Wide Short 17 - 20 11 - 14 12
Wide 17 - 20 11 - 14 18

When taking body measurements, you need to use the correct type of tape measure. You will want to use a soft cloth or flexible plastic  tape measure, similar to what a seamstress uses. Do not use a metal measuring tape, used in construction (your measurements will be inaccurate).  Please don't guess, if you still have your sock packaging you can refer to the packaging size tab.  Pay special attention not to pull your measuring tape too tight.  Doing so will produce a measurement that is too small.

The most difficult measurement is the bottom measurement.  Too often, people measure too high along the bottom of their limbs producing a larger "Bottom" measurement.  Ideally, measure 2 inches up from the bottom of your limb and use a pen to mark this level on your limb. Once you know exactly where to measure, use a tape measure to carefully measure your bottom circumference.

Knit-Rite Stretch Spacer Sock Description

Knit-Rite Stretch Spacer Socks provide an improved prosthetic fitting, range of motion, and reduced slippage. Because they grip the residuum for a very intimate fit and have a smooth surface (not ribbed), they are ideal for irregular shaped residual limbs. Like the original Spacer Socks, they feature a very soft and smooth cotton finish with a durable sheath-type toe, including rounded reciprocal toe for bottom comfort. Stretch spacer medium single-ply thickness. Spacer and Stretch Spacer socks sold in a package of 6.

Stretch Spacer Sock Review

"These socks are great, they are stretchy and toughly made to last. Being 1-ply they are optimum to get to that just right lift for comfort zone you need."
